My brother can read and everything, but he needed me to stop playing XBOX every once and awhile so I could get him to a certian platform. I'm just gonna tell you right now. This game can be frustrating! I spent a good 45 minutes trying to figure out one quest, but that's what makes it intresting.
It's a challange. Yes, this game requires you to 'jump around and make noises', but it's not a NickJr game either. It's not hardcore, but it's not a lot of button mashing, it takes a certian amount of stratgey. If this game is anything, it ain't violent. Yeah, OK, the first 'weapon' you get is a stick. You're fighting fictional creatures, you guys, Give Nick a break.
It's not violent. It's not a T rated game. It's a game for kids. Yeah, they don't have alot of 'positive' messages, unless you count working together to fight and save the world. They don't have alot of positive role models either, no matter what they say.
The elder, wiser monkeys want to teach the others, but that's about it. Don't sign your kids up for it if that's what you're looking for. My OK? If your kids can read and are willing to invest an decent amount of time into this game, then sign them up.

It's special and wonderful because, well, how many monkey games do you see now-a-days? Not that many, if you ask me.
It's extremely cute, and wonderful for your younger children. The graphics are beautiful and unique, and the monkeys are each different. None can be exactly the same! Your child will never see a monkey with their name - it's completely theirs, and after they use it, they own it, and no one can use it.
Over the time it has been open, Monkey Quest has become very popular. This does cause "lagging", or a very slow computer. I recommend to make sure that Monkey Quest is the only tab open - the only thing open when you play. That helps. I promise you, that your child will love this game.
His or her face will light up, and this game will keep them distracted for at least an hour. If you need to cook dinner in peace, or if you want to look at television alone, this is the best thing to do it.
It's appropriate, fun, and down-right addicting! Remember, tell your child what to do and what not to do online. Know your child. Although this game has slight violence, there is no blood or gore. The internet will always be iffy, but if you tell your child what to play and what not to play, if you tell your child to tell you everything about their online life, it will be fine.

It's very basic, although you might need to help your kid once in a while with a puzzle or something. The chat is completely safe, and they won't let you use any bad words at all.
