Green and Landon did wear lifts on Bonanza. My uncles and aunts knew him, as he was not a stranger to east Texas parts. People used to pay to see him fight in public, which was one of the few things to do for entertainment back then. When I went to California years ago, moving a friend from college to his first teaching job there; we stopped in Arizona to see Dan and he was nice and patient to us kids seeing that we were so dumb at that point, thinking that we were smart, being from college.
